B&D’s first restaurant was opened in March 2001 by Savannah resident David Tonroe. David realized the there was a real need for a gourmet burger restaurant in Savannah. Determined to introduce this delicacy to Savannah, David searched for a site to start the business. Broughton St. seemed the ideal location and so it proved to be. But what to call it? He decided that he should use the names of his two sons – Blake and Duncan, and so B&D’s was born. Popular with local business people, SCAD students and tourists, B&D’s on Broughton is still the only gourmet burger restaurant in the City. In 2004 David decided that the Southside of Savannah deserved a gourmet burger restaurant too. And so he opened a much larger restaurant on Abercorn St. The concept has proved a big hit with all Savannians and David is therefore planning a third location. It is set to open in April 2012 in Ellis Square. Late night revelers take note!

We start with USDA Choice Angus Beef that is never frozen and always fresh. Preparation is done on a specially designed grill that maintains a 650 degree open flame.

You see a top quality burger is way more than a backyard grill and a frozen patty. There is an art in cooking a burger to ensure it is juicy and flavorful at its core. And thats not all - our menu contains more than 170 DIFFERENT BURGERS.

This includes 34 veggie burgers and 34 turkey burgers.

 
The Bread

Our in-house bakery handles each and every morning the task of cranking out the buns for the day.

Our buns are soft on the inside and sealed with a golden layer of goodness. As an alternative we also offer our own wheat harvest bread cut thick and hearty to hold together the combination of toppings.
